Max Jelbart (Order of the Australia Medal) Farmer, cattleman extraordinaire.

Max Jelbart OAM recently passed. 13.04.1947 – 27.05.2016 (67yrs). Max passed over at home on the farm, overlooking the green lush pastures that he worked so hard to establish.

Cattle advocate, Farming Scholar and member of the Nuffield of Australia Investment Committee, as well as Board member Marcus Oldham College.

Max farmed cattle at Leongatha South, rearing over  400 calves per year.  Max developed a method that eliminated scours.

Director/owner also of the Caldermeade Farm where tourists can view farm life and access  organic farm food from the Cafe.  Quite the educational facility for farming.

Max was present on various Industry Boards and shared his knowledge freely.  A Murray Goulburn supplier for 38 years and Director since 2012.  ADF Director for 7 years.  Past President of United Dairy Farmers Victoria South Gippsland Branch.

Order of the Australia Medal for his service to the Dairy Industry.  Max had a passion for education of youth and felt they needed as much assistance as possible as they are the next generation in farming.

Max was a tireless worker, insightful, honest and an inspirational man with an astute farming insight.  Max had the loss of his wife Barbe  2 years ago.

Max always felt the 10% duty in relation to export, should be sustainable at 75c – 80c in the dollar in order to remain competitive and had several thoughts on export.

Thank you Max for your amazing abilities, a courageous leader.
